What to Expect
What To Expect At The First Visit
Homeopathy is a form of alternative medicine. The first visit can last 60-90 minutes and involves an extensive interview and examination designed to discover the overall nature and pattern of the patient’s health problems. Clients are asked about all aspects of their lives including the details of physical symptoms, emotional issues, sleep patterns, food cravings, environmental and weather sensitivities, and much more.
Therefore the client’s active participation in the process of reporting the details of his or her health problems and contributing emotional factors is very important. Parents are asked to be closely observant in order to report the symptoms and behaviors that their children may be experiencing.
It will be very helpful if you come prepared with a list of the medications, herbals, and supplements that you are taking. You will be advised about how best to handle them once a full evaluation has been made. For many chronic health problems, conventional drugs may be slowly discontinued once noticeable progress is being made.
If the choice of homeopathic medicine is clear, it may be prescribed for you at the first visit. It is not unusual that extra time may be required to analyze and research your case. In such cases, you will receive your prescription within a few days after the first visit. The cost of homeopathic medication is already included in the office visit fee. You will be asked to avoid drinking all coffee once you have taken the homeopathic medication.
Within hours to days after taking a homeopathic medication you may experience what is referred to as an “aggravation” of symptoms. Although it does not always happen, this is very common, and is usually a short lived flare up of some of the symptoms that you may already have. This is usually a good sign that you are responding to the prescription, and this may be followed by an improvement in your overall health condition. No need to worry as this is safe and completely normal. We encourage you to contact us should you have any concerns.
Return Visits
You will be asked to return to the office within a few weeks for the first follow up visit so that your response to the treatment may be evaluated. This allows the next decision in the treatment process to be made. Skipping this step can make it more difficult to properly evaluate the prescription. As progress is made we will recommend return visits at longer intervals. Return visits are recommended until satisfaction with your overall health is achieved.
